Become a volunteer
.
Donate a little of your spare time to tortoise welfare. Tortoises rapidly are disappear ing from Bulgaria and all around the world. To do something about it we need associates who will support our efforts. If you wish to assist and have the free time, become a volunteer! Everyone over the age of 16 is welcome!
The positive effect of volunteer work is expressed in personal satisfaction for helping and playing a part in a noble cause. The shared emotions and experiences contribute to strengthening the individual spirit. You can be useful individually or in teams by volunteering your experience and doing something different from routine daily duties.
Among our volunteer opportunities:
We are looking for volunteers to carry out practical landscape management, maintenance and improvement projects within the Centre. We need people with practical skills such as hanging gates, constructing enclosures, painting, and gardening. Any electric al experience would be very useful.
In early spring we need assistance with a range of practical duties in the Visitor Centre – cleaning, painting, tidying up, etc.
If you’re skilled in crafts, you may help by creating tortoise-souvenirs.
We are looking for volunteers for events throughout the year and will provide overnight accommodation. Volunteers must supply their own work clothes and gloves (if needed), sunscreen and other protective equipment. Camping is available on-site for those who would like to bring a tent. Indoor accommodations for up to 4 volunteers are available.

Donate in kind
As for many nonprofit organizations we need equipment, materials and supplies for our daily work. Donations in kind, save money and allow us to focus our efforts to direct activities for the benefit of our residents. Currently we are looking for:
- tools and materials for the centre’s buildings maintenance
- garden supplies and equipment
- wood for fences and enclosures
- any kind of specialized terrarium equipment for the indoor (winter) period
- wood for building a bower and finished wooden benches and tables
- office supplies
- tableware and utensils for our children’s schools

We aim to develop mutually beneficial partnerships in line with the goals of both parties-the Tortoise Centre and our partner. In turn you acquire a permanent publicity in our exhibition room. Become an ambassador

You can help support the Tortoise Centre by sharing our cause. We are looking for people who are excellent communicators, enjoy meeting people and are prepared to be an ambassador for the tortoise conservation cause. Good knowledge and understanding of our mission and goals would also be an advantage. No experience is necessary and training and support are provided.

Adopt a tortoise
.
You can support us by “adopting” a tortoise patient or a baby starting at just €50. Your adoption directly benefits the continued care and treatment of our sick, injured, and newly hatched tortoises. With your donation, you will be providing the food, medication, veterinary care, and maintenance. You’ll be able to visit your adopted tortoise. If you live locally, you can always stop by and pay a visit. If you don’t live nearby, we will e-mail you updates to enable you to keep up with your animal’s medical progress.
