Banya village, at 190 m above sea level, is located along both sides of the main road between Varna (75 km) and Burgas (65 km). To the north rise the ridges of Obzor and to the south those of Emine. The village territory is included in the Natura 2000 network. Еminska Mountain comprises the easternmost part of the Stara Planina Mountains. From the Luda Kamchia River gorge, the main ridge of the Stara Planina divides into three nearly parallel ridges reaching the sea. Eminska Mountain is the central one with its highest point at Mandrabair Massif (621m above sea level). Eminska is lowest but broadest and most wooded part. It is separated from the other two by the gorges of the Dvoinitsa River to the north and Hadjiyska River to the south. To the west it extends over the Luda Kamchia River valley, and to its south is the Black Sea. The Tortoise Centre is situated 18km from the resort of Sunny Beach and 25km from the town of Nesebar.

Only 4km from the Centre is the Irakli Protected Area on the Black Sea coast. The Vaya River divides the broad beach here into two parts – Vaya beach, supplied with facilities (bars, umbrellas, chaise-longues, tables, showers) and Irakli beach – unfenced and free for camping. The unique combination of mountain and sea climate and natural beauty of the region attract nature-friendly tourists. The region is remote from industrial centers and one can enjoy the fresh air and green environment. The Black Sea coast is dotted with protected areas, natural plant communities and a rich diversity of fauna.
